Configure an Entity campaign

You can create Entity campaigns in order to annotate entities in documents that have transcriptions, or to correct existing entities that were imported from the project's provider.

Configuration parameters

After having filled out the generic configuration parameters, including the optional Context ancestor type parameter, you need to choose how the transcription will be displayed to the contributors, and specify the entities to annotate.

Entity campaign configuration

There are three available options for the transcription Display:

  • Transcription only: the corresponding image is not shown, and the transcription text is on the right. The contributors annotate entities on the transcription text.
  • Transcription next to the image: the corresponding image is shown, along with the transcription text on the right. The contributors annotate entities on the transcription text.
  • Transcription on the image: the transcription text is displayed overlaid on the corresponding image. The contributors annotate entities on the image.

To create an entity, you only need to specify its Type: First name, Last name, Occupation, etc. If your campaign's parent project is linked to an object from an external provider, and entity types were imported from that object, then these entity types will appear as hints when you fill the Entity type field. You can use these existing types and/or add new ones.

Correction of imported entities

If the purpose of your campaign is to correct existing imported entities (see the dedicated section in the import documentation) then you need to use the imported entity types. Only the imported entities for which the corresponding type has been added in the campaign configuration will be available to be corrected by the contributors.

Note

You can drag the entity creation forms up and down to re-order them, using the icon on their left. The order in which they are arranged in the campaign configuration is the order in which the entity tags will be displayed to the contributors in the annotation tasks.

Example annotation tasks

The following examples showcase the different display options:

  • An Entity task when the campaign is configured with the Transcription only Display option.

Transcription text only

  • An Entity task when the campaign is configured with the Transcription next to the image Display option.

Transcription next to the image

  • An Entity task when the campaign is configured with the Transcription on the image Display option.

Once your campaign is configured, you can create tasks to start gathering annotations on your documents.
